Many different Bibles, Testaments and Scriptures where distributed. A New Testament for soldiers was quickly followed by a special pocket edition for sailors, embossed with the crest of the RN. As the conflict proceeded, women offered their services and both the Woman’s Army Auxiliary Corps and the Woman’s Royal Navy Service had their own crested Bibles. As the British Army and Navy increased in strength and equipment, the sailors and soldiers were sent ever further afield, Scriptures made there way to the frozen North of Canada, through the Khyber Pass, up the mountains of Greece and out to the steppes of Russia to name but a few.
