The Duke of Wellington (1769 – 1852)

Wilberforce, a leader in the movement to abolish slavery, was an active member of the Society. Sir Edward Pellow, CinC East Indies was a strong supporter, Vice-President in 1815 and life member in 1817. At a later period, the Duke of Wellington became President and in 1814 the Duke of York was Patron and the HRH the Duke of Gloucester was Vice-Patron.
